Jenifer Reid BHSAI

New to the Island I am a BHSAI freelance instructor who worked with horses full time from 1998-2004 across yards within the UK and Italy.

People I worked for include:

Pammy Hutton at Talland School of Equitation,
Sarah Houlden at Strathearn Eventing,
David Gatherer in Renfrewshire,
Roberto Cristofoletti at Scuderia della Capinera.

I also taught at Gleneagles Equestrian Centre in Perth.

I have since taught and ridden part time alongside working full time.
I enjoy a challenge and generally have a positive can-do attitude, am energetic and physically fit.
I believe in working 'with' the horse and rider ,in positive encouragement and in the importance of getting the basics and the groundwork correct and established to allow for further progress. I'm not one for gadgets and prefer low key, simple equipment. If a horse is opening its mouth for example to evade the bit, I prefer to try and get to the root of the problem rather that strap it shut with a noseband. I will always do my best to understand a horse, and rider and take a confident but understanding approach.

Do you need help to produce your horse or pony to it's full potential?

I have experience in competing at the Royal International Horse Show, Horse of the Year Show, Ponies (UK) (Champion home-produced lead rein show pony 2005 Summer Champs), BSPS etc with lead rein, first ridden, Hunters and Working Hunters. I have also competed to Regional level (affiliated) and National level (unaffiliated) at Dressage.

I have been luck enough to work with some of the UK's best producers and trainers over the years and learn many valuable"tricks of the trade".

I particularly enjoy teaching children, novices (no matter what age!) and young horses and have my BHS PTT (preliminary teaching test)

Menage, cross country jumps, show jumps and working hunter jumps also available for lessons and hire.
